Hinterland is a brand new touring community theatre project created by Robert Power, with the aim of bringing theatre out into towns, villages and cities around Ireland.
It is made up of a mix of artists, performers, musicians and theatre makers from Tipperary and its hinterlands in the south of Ireland.
The group have received a fantastic reaction to their first production, J.M Synge’s The Playboy of the Western World, which includes a live traditional music accompaniment.
To date they have performed the play to packed audiences in towns and villages around counties Tipperary, Waterford, Kilkenny, Cork, Wexford, Kildare and Clare and they have even ventured off the mainland to perform the play on Inis Meáin in the Aran Islands, a place of great inspiration to the writer.
